Taking Down the Tree

Tuesday, January 7, 2014

I knew this day would come, I just didn't want to believe it. My husband made me take down the Christmas tree. I protested, believe me the excuses were just rolling out of my mouth.

"It's so pretty though!"
"It's so relaxing!"
"It hasn't even snowed yet!"
"I wanted to take pictures of the kids in front of it!"

His only response was, "I'm going to the store and when I get back, it's gone."

Whatever dude! There is no way it's leaving yet. I was not mentally prepared for the holidays to be over. Then the images of him pulling it to the shed with me holding the metal stump just dragging on the carpet face down started coming to mind.

My first thought was, "I guess I could do that today" Then the realization hit me that I'm an adult and if I tried that he'd just shake me off and I'd feel really dumb just laying there.

So down came the tree and out came the tears.

 Ok...so maybe I'm being a little dramatic

She wasn't even really taking down ornaments in those pictures. I had already taken some down and she came out and started putting them back up. We had a lot of fun taking it down and putting away most {we forgot some outside stuff} of the Christmas decorations really sparks a cleaning bug in you! We started to clean out Lo's room and clothes and ohmigosh after that the cleaning bug was GONE!

We cleaned from morning until past bed time but dang does the kitchen, living room and her room look good! Like I said though, the cleaning bug ran away and there is still a lot to do. I normally think that the house looks so bare after all the Christmas stuff is gone but really it just looks clean and I am loving it.

It's going down, I'm yellin TIMBERRRRRRR

Every year Lo takes a picture wearing the tree skirt and this year was "Mom, I'm so embarrassed" and Bryson tells her, "Get used to it, mom's going to make you wear that thing until you're twenty"

Dang right I am.

They are so adorable, it is just too much! And I'm with ya, taking down Christmas is so incredibly painful. Why can't we just have it all year long?!

Happy 2014!

This was the first year that the tree skirt didn't fit and we had to tie it on the bigger one and it made me so sad! I just want her to stay small. I love that little booty haha
