Farmers Market/Grocery Store Haul $100

Saturday, August 23, 2014

Today I FINALLY made it over to our local Farmers Market and picked up some local, organic fruit and veggies. It smelt AMAZING. If you are from New Mexico you know there are few smells better than roasting green chile. So with $100 in my pocket, two kids in my stroller and a large Natural Grocers bag on my arm we got there early, fought the crowds and left with an amazing haul.

Bryson and I decided the days he wasn't working we would try to go to the Farmers Market every saturday. We have a basic list that we get every time we go shopping and it was great to be able to get some of it local.

Everything from the eggs left is from the Farmers Market and from the granola right is from the grocery store.

Super huge onions. We only need two of these bad boys for the week. $3

Bell peppers $3 I wish that they had had more colors but there was only green by the time I got to the front of the line.

Kale! This kale was out of control! It was seriously huge. $2

Squash and zucchini 6 for $2

Corn 4 for $1

Basket of potatoes $5

Little thing of strawberries $5 (I think- it was either $3 or $5)

Roasted green chile $5

Farm fresh eggs $3.50

Huge thing of basil. At the grocery store one tiny sprig is $3.50 at the Farmers Market it was only $1

I really, really love basil.

Head of lettuce $3

Cantaloupe $2

Granola $6

I always get a couple of drinks whether it be coconut water, kombucha but we always get an odwalla, Bryson absolutely loves them. Last shopping trip I picked up this chocolate coconut waster and it was actually super good! This time I wanted to try the vanilla chai tea, it's a little more carbs than I would like but I think it will be a good pre workout drink.

Zico Water $3.50 Odwalla $6.99 Vanilla Chai Tea $5.00

Hummus $9.98
We always get the roasted red pepper one but I thought the spinach and artichoke one sounded awesome

 Brussel Sprouts $3.24

Asparagus $5.29

Parmesan Cheese $3.99
I plan on baking a ton of the veggies we got with EVOO, S&P and parmesan

Kashi Pizza $5.49 Alexia Sweet Potato Puffs $3.69
I always grab one of these pizzas for when Bryson is at work, I LOVE them. These sweet potato puffs are delicious, they aren't like tater tots, they are more like suuuuuppppppeeeerrrr soft gnocchi kind of texture.

Fresh Herb Salad $5

Terra Chips $3.49 Naan Crisps $2.99
You all know how much I love my Terra chips and I thought the naan crisps would be good with the artichoke and spinach hummus

BY THE WAY  I kicked bootay in the gym this week (and in the kitchen) 5 lbs in one week! Long way to go but feeling super confident, hence the selfie in Lo's room.

Total Price Spent: $98.15- most of this will last for two weeks. It was a little more than I would normally spend for a week of groceries but I'm really excited how much was local!
